HomeMy WebLinkAbout13.F.3. Scheduling of Workshop Meeting 13. F: 3, CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Scheduling of Workshop Meeting DATE: November 4, 2009 Comment: Introduction: The City Council is asked to schedule a workshop on November lOth, to hear an update on First AvenuellOl, and give preliminary consideration regarding three Public Works Issues. Background: As Council is aware, the First Avenue/CR10l CAC group has been meeting periodically since June to review and discuss issues regarding the anticipated reconstruction of First A venue between Spencer Street and County Road 17 (Marschall Road). Work has proceeded deliberately, so that the wide variety of opinions about the project and can be noted and addressed. However, before proceeding to the design phase, Scott County and consultant Bolten and Menk want to update the City Council with the information compiled to date, and receive input. So that sufficient time can be provided for this review, a separate workshop is being requested. Because of the unavailability of some staff from November 12-23rd, we are recommending Tuesday evening, November 10th. Depending upon the amount of time needed for the CR101 portion of the workshop, Public Works Director Bruce Loney has also requested time with the Council to introduce three items. He is not looking for final approval, but rather direction on whether the Council is interested in further information. Those items include: 1. Potential stop sign changes on existing multi-way stop sign intersection study done this past year. 2. Quarry Lakel169 pedestrian bridge and potential change in regional trail alignment. 3. Individual sewer service lining in areas where the sewer mains have previously been lined. Relationship to Visioning: This supports Goal D "Vibrant, Resilient and Stable". Recommendation: I recommend that a workshop be scheduled to update the City Council on First A venue/CAC discussions for 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 10. As time permits, other Public Works issues would be discussed. Action Required: If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, establish a workshop for the City Council to be held Tuesday, November 10 at 7pm City Council Chambers. ~V4~ I!vw-AvifI Mark McNeill City Administrator MM:cn
