CITY OF SHAKOPEE Police Department CO~JSENT Memorandum To: Honorable Mayor, City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator From: Chris Dellwo, Sergeant Subject: Surplus Property Date: September 01, 2009 INTRODUCTION The Shakopee Police Department is seeking council approval to declare three vehicles as surplus property. BACKGROUND A description of the vehicles: 1. 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe, VIN: 1GNEK13R9TJ368103 2. 1997 Mercury Sable, VIN: lMELM50U7VG6204l0 3. 2006 GMC Sierra, VIN: 2GTEK63N561152363 The vehicles were obtained through successful forfeiture proceedings and are not suitable for City use. The vehicles will be sold at auction or junked. Visioninl?: Relationship This action supports: Goal E: Financially Strong Strategy 10: Ensure City's Fiscal Health ALTERNATIVES 1. Authorize staff to declare the vehicles as surplus property. 2. Do not authorize. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends alternative one. ACTION REQUESTED If Council concurs, they should by motion declare the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe, VIN: lGNEK13R9TJ368103; the 1997 Mercury Sable, VIN: IMELM50U7VG62041O; and the 2006 GMC Sierra, VIN: 2GTEK63N561152363 as surplus property.
