TO: Mayor and City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrat~~~
SUBJECT: Resignation of Custodian Steve Quaday
DATE: July 29,2009
Introduction
The City Council is asked to accept the resignation of Steve Quaday from his position as a
custodian, effective July 30,2009.
Background
Steve began working for the City in May of 2006. He is currently assigned to clean the old
Public Works building and the Police Station five days Ii week. He recently submitted a letter of
resignation.
After reviewing the custodial schedule and staffing levels in the Facilities Division, it is staffs
recommendation that the position not be filled at this time. A rearranging of custodial
assignments and the shifting of certain cleaning responsibilities to our daytime facilities staff
should allow us to maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of City buildings while saving the
cost of salary and benefits for this position. It is possible that a slight increase in overtime and/or
the use of a part-time custodian for 5 - 10 hoursa week may be needed in the future, however, at
this time, staffwill do its best to meet the workload with existing personnel.
Relationship to Vision:
Goal F - General Housekeeping.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that Council accept Mr. Quaday's resignation with regret.
Requested Action
The Council is asked to offer a motion to accept, with regret, the resignation of Steve Quaday
from the position of custodian, effective July 30,2009.
