Derby Days Sidewalk Sales j3.F.)..~ CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Derby Days Sidewalk Sales DATE: July 7, 2009 Comment: Introduction: Council has asked to authorize sidewalks sales in conjunction with Derby Days, which will be held July 29th -August 2nd. Background: Traditionally downtown merchants have had sidewalk sales in conjunction with Derby Days. The Shakopee Downtown Partnership had indicated that sidewalk sales should be authorized at the same locations as done last year. The locations would be: First A venue between Sommerville and Holmes; 100 block of Holmes; 100 block of Lewis Street. The Coffee Bean Cafe, 238 South Lewis Street Recommendation: I recommend that the sidewalk sales be authorized with the above locations, for July 29h_ August 2nd, 2009, during regular business hours. Relationship to Visioning: This supports Goal B (High Quality of Life). Action Required: If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, authorize sidewalk sales to be held in conjunction with Derby Days July 29th to-August 2nd, for the 100 blocks of Lewis and Holmes Street, First Avenue from Holmes to Sommerville Street, and 238 South Lewis Street. f;uy- ~ Mark McNeill City Administrator MM:cn
