CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
SUBJECT: Derby Days Sidewalk Sales
DATE: July 7, 2009
Comment:
Introduction:
Council has asked to authorize sidewalks sales in conjunction with Derby Days, which
will be held July 29th -August 2nd.
Background:
Traditionally downtown merchants have had sidewalk sales in conjunction with Derby
Days. The Shakopee Downtown Partnership had indicated that sidewalk sales should be
authorized at the same locations as done last year. The locations would be:
First A venue between Sommerville and Holmes;
100 block of Holmes;
100 block of Lewis Street.
The Coffee Bean Cafe, 238 South Lewis Street
Recommendation:
I recommend that the sidewalk sales be authorized with the above locations, for July 29h_
August 2nd, 2009, during regular business hours.
Relationship to Visioning:
This supports Goal B (High Quality of Life).
Action Required:
If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, authorize sidewalk sales to be held in
conjunction with Derby Days July 29th to-August 2nd, for the 100 blocks of Lewis and
Holmes Street, First Avenue from Holmes to Sommerville Street, and 238 South Lewis
Street.
