SUBJECT: Acceptance of Donations-Shakopee Downtown Partnership

Comment:
Introduction:
The Council is asked to adopt a resolution accepting two donations consisting of $3000,
and $1000, from the Shakopee Downtown Partnership (SDP).
Background:
The SDP sponsors a portion of the "Movies in the Park" nights, and has agreed to
reimburse the City for $3000, which comprises one-half of the cost of the movie
program. It also sponsors the Huber Park Concert series.
In addition, the SDP financially supports the Friday Night Classic Car Cruise. This
$1000 is a partial reimbursement of City expenses (Police and Public Works clean-up)
for the Car Cruise.
By State Law, any donation in excess of $1 000 must be accepted by the City by means of
a resolution.
Relationship to Visioning:
This supports Goal B "High Quality of Life".
Recommendation:
I recommend that the resolution be adopted.
Action Required:
If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt the following resolution:
A Resolution Accepting Donations of $3000, and $1000 from the
Shakopee Downtown Partnership.

RESOLUTION NO. 6920
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF $3000, AND $1000 FROM THE
SHAKOPEE DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP
WHEREAS, the City of Shakopee has received two donations from the Shakopee
Downtown Partnership in the following amounts:
$3000 for sponsorship of "Movies in the Park", and the Huber Park
Concert series; and,
$1000 for the reimbursement of City expenses involved with the Classic
Car Cruise event; and,
WHEREAS, the Shakopee Downtown Partnership has made these contributions
to improve recreational and social opportunities for residents of, and visitors to
the City of Shakopee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the two cash donations of$3000 and
$1000 from the Shakopee Downtown Partnership are gratefully accepted; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the contributions shall be used to reimburse
the City of Shakopee for expenses relating to the Friday Night Classic Car Cruise,
and will also be used to partially reimburse the City of Shakopee for expenses
relating to Movies in the Park, and Huber Park Concert series.
Adopted in session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota, held this day of July, 2009.
