I( CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum CONSENT TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Adoption of 2002 Pay Equity Report DATE: January 16, 2003 INTRODUCTION: The Council is asked to adopt the 2002 Pay Equity Report, and direct that it be submitted to the Minnesota Department of Employer Relations (DOER). BACKGROUND: As part of the State pay equity law, a report must be reported by each local governmental jurisdiction in Minnesota every three years, showing compliance with the State's comparable worth law. By this, it must demonstrate that its pay plan provides comparable pay for comparable work. A compliance report has been run, shows that the City is in compliance with the four parts of the test. The report must be submitted by January 31 st. RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the compliance report for the State's pay equity reporting requirement be adopted, and submitted to DOER. ACTION REQUIRED: If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt as final the compliance report for pay equity reporting purposes, and direct that City staff submit this to the Minnesota Department of Employee Relations. ~~.
