CITY OF SHAKOPEE CONSENT Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Full Time Pay Plan Modification - Facility Maintenance Lead Worker DATE: February 13, 2003 INTRODUCTION: The City Council is asked to modify the 2003 full time employee pay plan, to include a position which was created at the February 4th meeting, and delete a position title which is no longer used. BACKGROUND: On February 4th, the City Council authorized the creation of the Facility Maintenance Lead Worker position. As recommended by staff, this is to be placed in Grade 5 of the 2003 pay plan. An internal posting is currently underway to fill this position. So that the position is included in the plan, a modified plan has been created. In addition, as the "Building Maintenance Worker - City Hall" position is now obsolete, that position has been deleted from its previous position in Grade 2. RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the Council add the Facilities Maintenance Lead Worker position and delete the "Building Maintenance Worker - City Hall" position. ACTION REQUIRED: Ifthe Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt Resolution No. 5860: A Resolution Amending Resolution No. 5838 Which Adopted the 2003 Pay Plan for the Officers and the Non-Union Employees of the City of Shakopee. Mark McNeill City Administrator RESOLUTION NO. 5860 A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5838 WmCH ADOPTED THE 2003 PAY SCHEDULE FOR THE OFFICERS AND NON-UNION EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE WHEREAS, on January 7,2003, the City Council of the City of Shako pee, Mimlesota, adopted Resolution No. 5838, approving the 2003 Pay Schedule for the officers and non-union employees of the City of Shakopee; and WHEREAS, on February 4, 2003, the City Council ofthe City of Shako pee, Mim1esota approved the creation of the position of Facilities Maintenance Lead Worker position; and WHEREAS, the 2003 Pay Schedule should be modified to include the position of Facilities Maintenance Lead Worker, to be placed in Grade 5 of said Plan; and WHEREAS, the position of Building Maintenance Worker - City Hall is no longer applicable, and therefore this position should be should be eliminated from the Pay P Ian; and WHEREAS, it is therefore it is necessary to amend the pay plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the 2003 Pay Schedule is hereby amended by the attached 2003 Classification Grade Levels and Pay Maximums Schedule.
