SUBJ: Surplus Equipment

Introduction & Background
The city has the below listed equipment as surplus property.
It is requested that it be declared as surplus so that it
may be sold at the Hennepin County auctions this year.
Staff recently researched the idea of selling old squad cars
to companies advertising to buy them. The offers received
were substantially less that what the cars were bringing at
auction.
There is a 1988 GMC pickup that has been replaced and was to
be sold at auction (as mentioned in a January, 2003 memo) .
It has been requested to keep that truck for use by the new
facility maintenance lead worker. Another pickup that was
to be sold has been retained for use by the Recreation
maintenance worker.
If Council agrees to the expansion of the fleet by retaining
the 1988 GMC, the action would be:
Action
Move to declare the following property as surplus.
