11cJ- City of Shakopee Police Department Memorandum To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator From: CSO Jaclyn Yzermans Subject: Surplus Property Date: April 22, 2003 INTRODUCTION: Council is asked to declare certain items held by the Police Department as surplus property. BACKGROUND: The Police Department currently finds itself in possession of numerous items that have been stored at the Police Department. The numerous items originated from: found property, evidence (that cannot be returned), police equipment, miscellaneous office equipment and furniture. The attached inventory is ready for auction or disposal. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Council declare these items held by the Police Department as surplus property for the purpose of proper disposal. ACTION REQUESTED: If the council concurs, it should, by motion, declare these items surplus property and authorize staff to appropriately dispose of these items. The other option would be to discard them as hazardous waste, which in return would be billed to the City for disposal fees.
