CITY OF SHAKOPEE CONSENT Police Department Memorandum TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Dan Hughes, Chief of Police ~ SUBJECT: Acceptance of Paul Cherrier's Resignation DATE: May 13,2003 INTRODUCTION: Paul Cherrier has submitted his resignation as a Community Service Officer (CSO), for the Shakopee Police Department. A copy of his letter of resignation is included with this memo. BACKGROUND: Paul Cherrier has accepted a position as a Deputy Sheriff with the Scott County Sheriffs Office. His last day of employment with the Shakopee Police Department will be May 16,2003. There is not a current eligible register for the position ofC.S.O. The Police Department is seeking Council authorization to conduct testing for the position. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Council accept Paul Cherrier's resignation, with regret, and request the Shakopee Police Civil Service Commission begin the testing process to fill the vacant position. ACTION REQUESTED: If the Council concurs, they should, by motion, accept Paul Cherrier's resignation with regret, and authorize the Shakopee Police Civil Service Commission to begin the testing process for the position of Community Service Officer. I have enjoyed my employment and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me with this department. It was a great learning experience for me.
