SUBJECT: Acceptance of Paul Cherrier's Resignation
DATE: May 13,2003
INTRODUCTION:
Paul Cherrier has submitted his resignation as a Community Service Officer (CSO), for
the Shakopee Police Department. A copy of his letter of resignation is included with this
memo.
BACKGROUND:
Paul Cherrier has accepted a position as a Deputy Sheriff with the Scott County Sheriffs
Office. His last day of employment with the Shakopee Police Department will be May
16,2003. There is not a current eligible register for the position ofC.S.O. The Police
Department is seeking Council authorization to conduct testing for the position.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Council accept Paul Cherrier's resignation, with regret, and
request the Shakopee Police Civil Service Commission begin the testing process to fill
the vacant position.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If the Council concurs, they should, by motion, accept Paul Cherrier's resignation with
regret, and authorize the Shakopee Police Civil Service Commission to begin the testing
process for the position of Community Service Officer.

I hereby submit my resignation of employment with the Shakopee Police Department
effective Friday, May 16, 2003.
I have enjoyed my employment and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me with
this department. It was a great learning experience for me. At this point I have accepted
a position with the Scott County Sheriff s Office.
I will value the many friendships I have established. Thanks.
