CITY OF SHAKOPEE CONSENT
Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
SUBJECT: June 10th W orkshop/FY 04 Budget Discussion
DATE: May 29, 2003
INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this memorandum is to advise the Council of the proposed discussion
items scheduled for the June 10th City Council workshop.
BACKGROUND:
Previously, the Council established a workshop to be held Tuesday, June 10th, beginning
at 6:00 p.m. Because ofthe City Council chambers renovation, the meeting will be held
at the Scott County Boardroom. The meeting will be taped for later broadcast, but will
not be carried live.
The original item to be discussed at that meeting was a response to concerns about
multiple unrelated persons residing in single-family residential units. However, we
would like the Council to consider the addition of a couple of additional items:
FY 04 Budget - There needs to be a discussion of the FY 04 budget instructions to City
staff, and the adoption of a schedule. It is recommended that that discussion be held at
June 10th workshop meeting, as complete information is not available from the State to be
discussed at the June 3rd meeting. In addition, at least one Councilor member will not be
available at the June 17th meeting, and staff would like to get information to the
departments in June if possible.
Park Survey - On June 2nd, there will be a joint meeting between the PRAB and the Parks
Survey Task Force. There appears to be some issues that will need to be discussed with
the City council that will result from the June 2nd meeting. For that reason, inclusion of
this agenda item at the June 10th workshop is recommended.
RECOMMENDATION:
We recommend that the agenda for the June 10th City Council workshop be set as
follows:
A. Concerns about multiple unrelated people in single-family dwelling units.
B. Discussion of recommendations regarding the parks survey.
C. Consideration ofFY 04 budget instructions and schedule.
ACTION REQUIRED:
If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt the recommended agenda items as
those to be discussed at the June 10th workshop meeting.
