Michael Leek, Community Development Director SUBJECT: Growth Projections for the City of Shakopee MEETING DATE: June 4, 2003 INTRODUCTION: In 2002, the Shakopee City Council adopted an update to its Comprehensive Plan that had been under review since 1998. Attached to this report are the population, household, employment, housing mix and density projections that were agreed to with the Metropolitan CounciL The City is going through a very public process to develop an update to the Comprehensive Plan. Because that update will likely address the annexation of land from Jackson Township in the future, these projections will need to be reviewed and revised. R. Multiple-family 8.0 units/acre Same SAFE SCHOOLS INTERAGENCY TEAM The mission of the Safe Schools Interagency Team is to collaborate efforts and resources to ensure a safe community that is conducive to the success of our children. A team of 11 people from Shakopee and Scott County area attended a one-week safe schools interagency planning program. The representatives included: Sue Broholm, Director of Special Services Bob Forberg, Sergeant Shakopee Area Catholic Schools Shakopee Police Department Steve Brown, Supervisor Dan Hughes, Chief Scott County Social Services Shakopee Police Department Judith Brumfield, Assistant Director John McBroom, Superintendent Scott County Human Services Shakopee Schools Pat Ciliberto, Prosecutor Therese McCoy, Director Scott Joint Prosecution Association Scott County Court Services Tracy Coenen, Assistant to the City Jan Vohnutka, Deputy Administrator Administrator Scott County Court Administration City of Shakopee Ruby Dasgupta, Assistant County Attorney Scott County Attorney's Office Goals of the planning program include: . Promoting Community and School collaboration that supports comprehensive, pro-active partnerships among public and private entities, schools, and the community. . Increase the capacity of community leaders, organizations, and schools to use information to make more informed decisions regarding children, youth, and families, particularly as they relate to school safety. . Help community leaders develop and action plan centered on specific goals and objectives related to safe schools. . Help communities refocus existing community resources to better serve children, youth and families in the community and schools. Current goals identified of the Interagency Team: . Develop a mission statement (August 2002). . Develop strategies for information sharing across agency lines. County Attorney will play key role in identifying legal issues. . Identify other team members to bring to the table. .
