Subj ect: Purchase of Audio-visual Equipment for New Police Building
Introduction
The Police Department is seeking authorization to purchase audio-visual equipment for
the new police building.
Back2round
Council approved the construction contract for the new police building several months
ago. The contract designated $30,000 of the $5.5 million contract award to be used for
the purchase of audio-visual equipment. Construction of the new building has reached
the point when this equipment needs to be ordered and installed for the construction time
line to be met by the contractor.
The three different vendors, Tierney Brothers Inc., EDC Solutions, and Alpha Video
provided itemized quotes for the equipment required and installation of same. Tierney
Brothers and Alpha Video provided pricing based on a State contract, while EDC
Solutions provided pricing without a State contract. EDC Solutions were invited so
submit quotations based on a recommendation from the BKV Group.
Bud2et Impact
The three vendors each provided an itemized quote; Tierney Brothers, Inc. quoted
$53,749, EDC Solutions quoted $29,091, and Alpha Video quoted $25,035, for the
equipment, shipping, installation and sales tax on the equipment provided.
Recommendation
Staff recommends the audio-visual equipment and installation be purchased from Alpha
Video.
Action Requested
Council should, if they concur, by motion authorize the appropriate City staff, to enter
into a purchase and installation agreement of audio-visual equipment for the new police
building with Alpha Video for an amount not to exceed $25,035.
