City of Shakopee CONSENT Memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Tracy Schaefer, Assistant to the City Administrator SUBJECT: Stephen Guzzetta Resignation from the Telecommunications Commission & Appointment of Benjamin Adams MEETING DATE: June 17,2003 Introduction Accept Mr. Guzzetta's resignation with regret and appoint Mr. Adams to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Guzetta until February 28, 2004. Background I received a letter of resignation from Stephen Guzzetta on June 12,2003 from the Telecommunications Commission. Rather than advertising for the position, staff recommends the appointment of Benjamin Adams to the Telecommunications Commission to fill the new opening. Councilors Helkamp and Lehman interviewed Mr. Adams in February for the Telecommunications Commission. Although Mr. Adams was not appointed, the interview panel thought highly of Mr. Adams; however, there were not enough open positions on the Commission. I spoke to Mr. Adams and he is still very interested in serving on the Telecommunications Commission. Action Required Accept Mr. Guzzetta's resignation with regret and appoint Mr. Adams to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Guzetta until February 28,2004. t~fe~ Assistant to the City Administrator 1 JUN. 12.2003 9: 18AM CREIGHTON BRADLEY NO. 268 P.1/1 STEPHENJ.GUZZETTA 6721 Greenbriar Curve Shakopee, Minnesota 55379 June 12, 2003 VIA FACSIMILE Ms. Tracy Schaefer Assistant to the City Administrator City of Shakopee 129 South Holmes Street Shakopee, Minnesota 55379 Re: Re~enation from the Shako))ee Telecommunications Advisory Commission Dear Tracy: Due to unforeseen circumstances which require me to dedicate much more time to the operation of my law firm, I hereby resign from my position as a commissioner on the Shakopee Telecommunications Advisory Commission, effective immediately. I have enjoyed working with my fellow commissioners on the matters presented to the Commission, and very much appreciate all of your hard work and dedication. I will continue to monitor cable television and telecommunications issues affecting the City, as a "private" citizen, and would be happy to provide you with whatever guidance and advice I can on specific legal and policy questions that may arise in the future, if requested to do so. It has been an honor to serve as a Commissioner, and I will miss working with you and the Commission members. Very trUly yours,
