City of Sbakopee Memorandum CONSENT TO: Mayor & City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kim Henke, MIS Coordinator Jerry Poole, Deputy Police Chief SUBJECT: New Police Department Building - Computer cabinets DATE: August 22, 2003 Introduction Computer cabinets are required in the new Police Department building to house existing computer equipment, documentation and electronic media. Background The police department has computer equipment such as file servers, routers, and switches that are housed in an existing cabinet at the current police facility. This cabinet must remain in its current location, as the building cabling is physically attached to it. Other storage requirements include various forms of electronic media, (i.e. back up tapes, CD ROMs), and documentation which are currently stored in multiple locations. The computer equipment, as well as the electronic media and other information, should be kept in an organized and secured location within the building. The cabinets specified provide ventilation, electrical, and cable management features, a combination keyboard\mouse\monitor, important safety features, lockable doors, and the ability allow for future growth. Budget Impact The cost of these cabinets, including shipping and tax, is in the amount of $5,751. These funds will be taken from the Police Department contingency fund, which currently has in excess of $300,000. Action Authorize appropriate city staffto purchase computer cabinets from Wright Line for an amount not to exceed $5,751 from the Police Department contingency fund. ~ -~ -- -- - -
