Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council CONSENT Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Gregg V oxland, Finance Director RE: Vision Shakopee Donation DATE: September 10, 2003 Introduction and Background The City has received a check from Vision Shakopee with the intention that the funds be used for the purchase of the John Deere Gator, which is used for watering plants in the downtown area. The check will be deposited to the City's account for the Escrow Fund. Recommended Action Offer Resolution No. 5943, A Resolution of the City of Shako pee, Minnesota, Accepting a $1,500 Donation from Vision Shakopee, and move its adoption. GV Ijs I:JeanetteNisionShakopee RESOLUTION NO. 5943 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ACCEPTING A $1,500 DONATION FROM VISION SHAKOPEE WHEREAS, oil November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and donations by the City; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that cash donations of over $1,000 shall be accepted by resolution ofthe City Council, and shall require a two-thirds majority of the Council for acceptance; and WHEREAS, Vision Shakopee has generously donated $1,500 which will be used for reimbursement of trade-in agreement on John Deere Gator; and WHEREAS, the City of Shakopee acknowledges and appreciates the cooperation of Vision Shakopee in the upkeep of the downtown area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the cash donation of $1,500 from Vision Shakopee is gratefully accepted; and FURTHER, the City staffis directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.
