Memorandum
CASE LOG NO.:
TO: Mayor and City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: R. Michael Leek, Community Development Director
SUBJECT: Amendment to City Code Section 9.02. GENERAL PARKING
PROHffiITIONS.
MEETING DATE: September 16, 2003
DISCUSSION:
During a workshop earlier this year the Council discussed problems associated with
occupancy of single-family homes. Among the problems was parking of cars in such a
way as to block mailboxes resulting in failure to receive mail.
The City Code at Sec. 9.02 already provides a number of prohibitions on parking. To
address the concern noted above, staffis recommending a change to Sec. 9.02 that would
prohibit parking within 20 feet of mailboxes from Monday to Saturday between the hours
of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Offer and approve Ordinance No. 681 as presented, an ordinance containing
general parking prohibitions.
2. Offer and approve Ordinance No. 681 with revisions, an ordinance containing
general parking prohibitions.
3. Do not approve Ordinance No. 681.
4. Table the matter and request additional information.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Offer and approve Ordinance No. 681 as presented, an ordinance containing general
parking prohibitions.
