I, MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council CONSE~JT Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Judith S, Cox, City Clerk RE: Appointment of Election Judges DATE: October 3, 2003 INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND: Minnesota State Statutes require that election judges be appointed by the governing body prior to the election. The attached resolution appoints judges for the November 4, 2003 City Election. We are currently waiting to hear from other judges about their availability to work and will have a revised resolution on the table Tuesday night. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Offer Resolution No. 5956, A Resolution Appointing Judges of Election and Establishing Compensation, and move its adoption, JSC/js (i:election\resappoingudge] RESOLUTION NO. 5956 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING JUDGES OF ELECTION AND ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, THAT: 1. The following persons are hereby appointed Judges of Election for the November 4,2003, City Election and Special Election for the ten polling precincts within the City of Shakopee designated in Resolution No. 5732, adopted June 4, 2002. The Election Judges shall be compensated for their work at the rate of $6,75 per hour and the Chairperson of the Election Judges shall be compensated at the rate of $7.75 per hour. 3, The proper officials be and hereby are authorized and directed to do and perform all acts necessary to carry out the terms, intents, and purposes of the Resolution, Adopted in regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, held this 7th day of October, 2003.
