/5. F. 3,
CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
RE: City/SPUC Building Value Panel
DATE: October 16, 2003
Introduction:
At its meeting of October 21, the Council will be asked to affirm appointments by Mayor Mars
for Council representation on a panel which will negotiate a value for the anticipated City
acquisition of the current SPUC headquarters building.
Background:
At the last meeting, Council reviewed the results of an appraisal which had been performed for
SPUC, of the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission headquarters building, located at 1030 East
4th Avenue. The appraisal listed a monetary amount, but that was contingent upon certain use
assumptions. The recommendation from staff at the October 7th meeting, and at the SPUC
Commissioners at their October 6th meeting, was that a panel be formed to negotiate the value of
the building. The panel would consist of City and SPUC staff, two SPUC Commissioners and
two members of the City Council.
At the October 7th meeting, Mayor Mars indicated that he would have recommendations for
Council appointees available at the October 21 st meeting.
Recommendation:
I recommend that the Council consider and affirm the Mayor's recommendations for
appointment.
Action Required:
If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, the recommendations of Mayor Mars for
appointments to the City/SPUC building valuation committee.
