Members of Shakopee F. D.
Gentleman it is with great regret that I sit here writing this letter. First I would like to
thank you for selecting me and allowing me the opportunity to become a member of
an outstanding organization of firefighters. As many of you mayor may not know I was
laid off from Northwest airlines in April of 2003. Per the state of Minnesota dept. of labor
the outlook for reemployment is bleak. My wife also received notice that her employer
will be shutting down here in the near future.
I recently interviewed for a federal civil service position with the state of Texas
repairing and maintaining their UH-60 Black hawk medical evacuation ambulance
helicopters. I have been selected and offered the position and regret to inform you
that I will be relocating to the San Antonio TX. Area, thus I will be resigning my position
from the Shakopee Fire Dept. effective /0 - 13 2003.
In closing gentlemen, since my brief tenure with the Fire Dept. I have
had many opportunities to represent the Fire Dept. at special events in our community
as well as in the surrounding communities. Many fire fighters of other depts. As well as
citizens in other communities and ours speak very highly of the Shakopee Fire Dept. and
seem to be glad to have S.F.D. present. So to the retired firefighters and to the senior
members on the Dept. now ,thank you for all your hard work throughout the years that
has earned S.F.D. this great reputation. To the younger and new trainees I encourage
you and hope that you continue to strive to keep up the great respect and
professionalism earned by the senior firefighters. To all thank you again for allowing me
the privilege and opportunity even though it was for a brief time to serve with a great
group of folks and a great organization.
Sincerely
~~
