RE: Two week notice
DATE: November 19,2003
FROM: Nicholas Delaney
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Shakopee Police Department, but regret to
inform you I have decided to give my two weeks notice. My last day will be December
4th, 2003. Your department is blessed with a great work atmosphere and a group of
dedicated employees. Additionally, the community in which you work is uniquely
dedicated to supporting the public safety sector, certainly with great cause and admiration
for the wonderful work done by the department. I regret having to leave after such a
short tenure, but I have been offered a great opportunity elsewhere.
The opportunity I have been offered is more acclimated to my career goals and will
afford me the chance for permanent employment as an attorney upon graduation and
passing of the bar exam. These reasons are all but a fraction of my reasons for departure.
A number of personal reasons have also spurred this decision, such as the end of a six
year relationship and wedding engagement. Shakopee at one point fit into my scheme
geographically, but due to the significant changes in my personal life, has since become
somewhat of a hardship.
I apologize for any inconvenience I have burdened the department with and wish
everyone within the department nothing but the very best. I thank you for the experience
you have afforded me and I appreciate your understanding in this matter.
