No. 5975, 5989 9 City of Shakopee Memorandum TO: Mayor and Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Gregg Voxland, Finance Director RE: Adoption Of The 2003/04 Tax Levy And Budget Resolutions DATE: December 2, 2003 Introduction and Background Resolution Number 5975 adopts the final tax levy for payable 2004 taxes. The total gross tax levy for 2003/04 is $736,677 more than for 2002/03 primarily due to changes in anticipated state aid and growth in the city. Resolution Number 5989 adopts the 2004 Budget. The budget must be adopted after the tax levy. Action Open public hearing. Accept public comment. Offer Resolution Number 5975, A Resolution Setting the 2003 Tax Levy, Collectable In 2004, and move its adoption. Offer Resolution Number 5989 A Resolution Adopting the 2004 Budget, and move its adoption. Close public hearing. ~V ;&:J Gregg Voxland Finance Director g:\budget04\budres04 RESOLUTION NO. 5975 A RESOLUTION SETTING 2003 TAX LEVY, COLLECTIBLE IN 2004 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, COUNTY OF SCOTT, MINNESOTA, that the following sums of money be levied as the tax levy in accordance wi th existing law for the current year, collectible in 2004, upon the taxable property in the City of Shakopee, for the following purposes: General Levy $7,945,654 Plus Economic Development Authority 60,000 Debt Service Levy 334,824 Debt Service - Fire Referendum 265,217 (Market Value) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to transmit a certified copy to this resolution to the County Auditor of Scott County, Minnesota. Adopted in session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, held this day of December, 2003.
