Subject: Acceptance of Donations from Shakopee Amateur Baseball,
Resolution No. 6901
INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No. 6901, a resolution of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota, accepting property donations of a batting cage, twelve benches and practice
screens from Shako pee Amateur Baseball.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
With funds remaining from hosting the 2008 State Amateur Baseball Tournament, the
Shakopee Amateur Baseball purchased several items for Joe Schleper Stadium. These
items include:
Ryan Express Batting Cage
Twelve benches for platform seating along first base line.
Four player screens
The Park Maintenance Division had concerns involving the long-term maintenance of the
batting cage and the impact that it could have on their, budget. With their concerns in
mind, Shakopee Amateur Baseball has agreed to assist in the purchase of a
replacement batting cage in the future.
The City of Shakopee appreciates the generosity of Shakopee Amateur Baseball, which
helps support the City's parks and recreation services, specifically activities taking place
at Joe Schleper Stadium.
The City's donation policy requires a 2/3 vote to accept cash donations over $1,000 and
donations of real property.

REQUESTED ACTION
City Council is asked to, by motion:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 6901, a resolution of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota,
accepting the donations from Shakopee Amateur Baseball.
RESOLUTION NO. 6901
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
ACCEPTING A PROPERTY DONATION FROM SHAKOPEE AMATEUR BASEBALL.
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No.
5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and donations by the
City; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that donations of real property shall
be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds majority of
the Council for acceptance; and
WHEREAS, SHAKOPEE AMETUER BASEBALL has generously given a
property donation of a batting cage, twelve benches and some player screens valued at
$8500.00; and
WHEREAS, such donations will help to improve Joe Schleper Stadium and
enhance the overall quality of life in Shakopee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the donations are gratefully accepted; and
FURTHER, the donations shall be used for improvements at Joe Schleper
Stadium, which is consistent with the wishes of the donor.
FURTHER, the City staff is directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging
receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.
Adopted in regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota held this 21st Day of April, 2009.
