SUBJECT: Request to Accept Fraternal Order of Eagles Donation by
Resolution No. 6887

INTRODUCTION:
The Shakopee Fire Department is offering Resolution No. 6887, accepting a $10,000.00 Trailer
from the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
BACKGROUND:
The Fraternal Order of Eagles has graciously offered to donate $10,000.00 Trailer to the City of
Shakopee, designated to the Shakopee Fire Department to haul the 1933 Ford Fire Truck.
VISIONING RELATIONSHIP:
This action supports:
Goal B: High Quality of Life.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Offer Resolution No. 6887.
2. Do not offer Resolution No. 6887.
3. Table and provide direction to staff.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends alternative #1.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If council concurs, offer Resolution No. 6887, a Resolution of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota,
accepting a $10,000.00 Trailer donation from the Fraternal Order of Eagles, to be allocated to
the Shakopee Fire Department, and move its adoption.
RESOLUTION NO. 6887
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ACCEPTING A $10,000.00 TRAILER
DONATION FROM FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5794, which
established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and donations by the City; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that donations valued over $1,000 shall be
accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds majority of the City
Council for acceptance; and
WHEREAS, the Fraternal Order of Eagles has graciously donated $10,000 Trailer to the
City of Shakopee, to be passed on to the Shakopee Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, City Council authorizes the transfer of the Trailer to the Shakopee Fire
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,
MINNESOTA, that the donation of a $10,000 Trailer from the Fraternal Order of Eagles is
gratefully accepted, and it to be allocated to the Shakopee Fire Department.
FURTHER, that City staff is directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging receipt
of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.

Shakopee, Minnesota held this day of April, 2009.
