Introduction
The City Council is asked to adopt the attached resolution of appreciation to Sharon Proskin,
who is retiring from her position as a Police Records Specialist, effective February 27,2009.
Requested Action
The Council is asked to offer Resolution No.6879, A Resolution of Appreciation to Sharon
Proskin, and move its adoption.
RESOLUTION NO. 6879
A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO SHARON PROSKIN
WHEREAS, Sharon Proskin began her employment with the City of Shakopee on November 19, 2001, as
a Police Records Technician with the Shakopee Police Department; and was subsequently promoted to the position
of Police Records Specialist; and
WHEREAS, in seven years and three months of employment with the City of Shakopee, Sharon provided
important support to the Shakopee Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Sharon's team spirit is represented in her willingness to work with her peers to promote the
greater good of the department, and her willingness to accept a variety of task assignments and learn new methods
and technology; and
WHEREAS, her experience and leadership lend themselves to mentoring less experienced staff; and
WHEREAS, her working'knowledge ofthe Minnesota Data Practices Act has been valuable in the timely
processing of requests for private and public data; and
WHEREAS, her assignment to the Criminal History Suspense Project has required a comprehensive
understanding of the complex process of an arrest moving through the Criminal Justice System; and her ability to
develop relationships with prosecutors, probation staff, and jail and prison facilities nationwide, in order to obtain
fmgerprints; and her technical experience with specialized computer systems; has been critical in making law
enforcement's criminal history records more accurate and our society safer; and
WHEREAS, Sharon will leave her position with the City effective February 27,2009.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCa OF THE CITY OF
SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that it does hereby express its deep appreciation to Sharon Proskin for seven years
and three months of dedicated service to the City of Shakopee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council extends its best wishes for every
happiness and success to Sharon in her future endeavors.
Adopted in adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota held this
twenty-fourth day of February, 2009.
