SUBJECT: Extension of Sharon Proskin's Part-Time Employment
DATE: lanuary 29, 2009
Introduction
The City Council is asked to authorize the continuation of Sharon Proskin's employment as a
part-time Records Specialist with the Police Department.
Background
Sharon Proskin has worked for the City since November of2001. In May oflast year she asked
to reduce her hours from the 30 hours per week she was working to 15 hours per week, ending in
her retirement on November 30. In early November, Council authorization was obtained to
extend Ms. Proskin's employment at 15 hours per week until such time as the other vacant
Records Technician position was filled. That position has been filled, effective February 2, with
the promotion of Alison Burstein.
The Police Department is now seeking authorization to continue Ms. Proskin's employment for
one final month, so that she is available to train Ms. Burstein on the specialized task of Suspense
Files.
Budget Impact
Funds are available within the Police Department budget to pay Ms. Proskin for 15 hours per
week, due to an ongoing vacancy in the position of Community Service Officer.
