Subject: Lions Club Request to Utilize Lions Park Land Sale Proceeds in
Tahpah Park
INTRODUCTION
The Lions Club is interested in assisting the Public Works Department to fund irrigation

would like to fund this project using a portion of the Lions Park land sale proceeds that
have been deposited in the Park Reserve Fund.
BACKGROUND
In May of 2003 the City Council moved to split the excess funds from the land sale
adjacent to Lions Park between the Park Reserve Fund for Lions Park and the other
50% would go towards the City's assessments on Vierling Dr. The amount deposited in
to the Park Reserve Fund for Lions Park was $41,000. The Lions Club has allocated a
small portion of these funds to improvements in Lions Park. In 2007 they allocated
$5,000 towards the renovation of the Lions Park bathrooms. In addition, they have
$6,000 earmarked towards the construction of a second outdoor sheet of ice at Lions
Park. This project has been postponed to 2010.
The Lions Club would like to assist the Public Works Department fund the installation of
irrigation on the infields of a few of the softball diamonds in Tahpah Park. The total cost
of the project is $4,500. Public Works would provide the labor.
REQUESTED ACTION
The City Council, if concurs, motion to approve the funding of $4,500 for the irrigation
installation at Tahpah Park to be utilized from the $41,000 Lions Park land sale proceeds
currently held in the Park Reserve Fund.
