INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No, 6818, a resolution of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota,
accepting a donation of furniture ($8/395.00 retail value) from Slumberland Furniture to benefit the
Enigma Teen Center facility.
BACKGROUND
In spring/early summer 2008, PT City staff Rachel Graber and FT staff Brad Eller had conversations with
Slumberland Furniture leadership regarding a possible donation of furniture to the Enigma Teen Center.
Conversations continued throughout the summer with Lorrie Link from Slumberland corporate offices and
with Paula Anderson from the new Shakopee Slumberland location. Paula visited the Enigma facility and
could see that there was a need for furniture, as the existing furniture has been used hard and is in need
of replacement.
SUMMARY
Slumberland decided that making a donation of furniture to Enigma would benefit the youth and teens of
the community and that it met their goals to help support the community in which they do business. The
donation items are as follows:
Barstools - #29 of them $99/each ($2871)
Entertainment Center #2 - $298/each($596)
Video Rockers #4 - $199/each ($796)
Stain Protection $29.00/each rocker($116)
Leather Sectional #1 - $2499.00
Sectional - Pit group with Ottoman #1 - 1299.00
Stain Protection $ 129.00 for pit group and ottoman
Delivery - $89.00

Should the donation be accepted, Slumberland would like to display a small plaque within the teen
center facility that recognizes their donation,
The City's donation policy requires a 2/3 vote to accept cash donations over $1,000 and donations of real
property valued at $500 or greater.
VISIONING RELATIONSHIP
The acceptance of the donation will help sustain and improve a unique City facility that is used primarily
for teens, but also periodically hosts pre-school, youth and senior programs. With this in mind, this
action appears to meet the follOWing aspects of the City's vision:
