No. 6795 CITY OF SHAKOPEE s. fs; Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council COf~SEtJT FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Acceptance of Donation DATE: July 30, 2008 Comment: Introduction: The Council has asked to adopt a resolution accepting a donation of $5000 from the Shakopee Rotary Club. The donation is to be used for the Huber Park playground. Background: Some time ago, Shakopee Rotary committed to donating $50,000 towards the Huber Park project; that money has been put towards the Huber Park playground. For that reason, the playground is named in recognition of the Shakopee Rotary Club. By State Law, any donations in excess of $1 000 must be accepted by the City by means of a resolution. This $5000 will be retained by the City, and will be used to reimburse the City or Huber Park Playground Committee for future maintenance and expansion activities. Relationship to Visioning: This supports Goal C "Great place for kids to grow up". Recommendation: I recommend that the resolution be adopted. Action Required: If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt the following resolution: A Resolution Accepting a Donation of$5000 from the Shakopee Rotary Club, for use at the Rotary playground in Huber Park, Shako pee Minnesota. /lwrvuuw Mark McNeill City Administrator RESOLUTION NO. 6795 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF $5000 FROM THE SHAKOPEE ROTARY CLUB WHEREAS, the City of Shakopee has received a donation from the Rotary Club in the amount of $5000, and WHEREAS, Rotary has intended the money for use at the playground at Huber Park, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the cash donation of $5000 from the Rotary Club is gratefully accepted, and FURTHER, that the money be used to reimburse the City or the Huber Park Community Playground Committee for future maintenance and expansion activities.
