SUBJECT: Election of ED A Officers for 2004

Introduction
The Economic Development Authority is asked to elect officers for 2004.
Background
As January 6th will be the annual meeting for 2004, a slate of officers should be elected
for the Economic Development Authority. Appointments by election may be done by
motion.
By-Laws of the Economic Development Authority require that the terms of office for
President, Vice President, and Treasurer expire on the date of the annual meeting of the
EDA of the subsequent year. The offices of the Secretary and Assistant Treasurer do not
expire unless the Board takes specific action. City Clerk Judy Cox serves as the
Secretary, while Finance Director Gregg V oxland serves as Assistant Treasurer.
. Therefore, the President, Vice President and Treasurer positions should be elected at the
January 6th meeting. For 2003, Matt Lehman, Terry Joos and Joe Helkamp held those
positions, respectively.
Mayor Schmitt has asked that Terry Joos serve as President of the EDA for 2004, and
makes that recommendation to the EDA. Nominations for Vice President and Treasurer
should be made at the January 6th meeting.
Action Required:
The EDA should, by motion, elect officers for the positions of President, Vice President,
and Treasurer of the Shakopee Economic Development Authority for 2004.
