SUBJECT: Successful Completion of Probationary Period - Kris Wilson, Mike Hullander
and Ryan Hughes

Introduction
The City Council is asked to recognize Kris Wilson, Mike Hullander and Ryan Hughes'
successful completion oftheir promotion-related probationary periods.
Background
Last summer, the City Council adopted an updated pay plan for full-time, non-union employees,
with an effective date of July 9. As part ofthe pay plan project, the job descriptions for three
staff positions were revised and the positions were reclassified to a higher pay grade, triggering
the start of a one year probationary period for each ofthese employees. The impacted employees
are Assistant City Administrator Kris Wilson, Public Works Superintendent Mike Hullander and
Natural Resources Coordinator Ryan Hughes.
At this time, the supervisors for all three employees are satisfied with their performance over the
course ofthe past year and are recommending that each be granted full-time regular status in
their respective positions.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the Council recognize Kris Wilson, Mike Hullander, and Ryan Hughes'
successful completion of their respective probationary periods and grant them full-time regular
status.
Relationship to Vision
The hiring and retention of qualified individuals to serve as City employees contributes to a
vibrant, resilient and stable city (Goal D).
Requested Action
If it concurs, the Council should offer a motion to grant full-time regular status to Kris Wilson,
Mike Hullander and Ryan Hughes in their respective staff positions.
