CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrato`~~" SUBJECT: Successful Completion of Probationary Period -Maintenance Operator Scott Blom and Mechanic's Apprentice Jesse Abraham DATE: May 30, 2008 Introduction The City Council is asked to recognize Scott Blom and Jesse Abraham's successful completion of the probationary period. Background On June 4, 2007, Scott Blom was promoted from the position of Mechanic's Apprentice to Maintenance Operator and Jesse Abraham was hired to fill the Mechanic's Apprentice position. Both employees have now completed the required one year probationary period and received positive performance evaluations from their supervisors. Recommendation It is recommended that the Council recognize Scott Blom and Jesse Abraham's successful completion of their respective probationary periods and grant them full-time regular status. Relationship to Vision The hiring and retention of qualified individuals to serve as City employees contributes to a vibrant, resilient and stable city (Goal D). Requested Action If it concurs, the Council should offer a motion to grant full-time regular status to Scott Blom as a Maintenance Operator and to Jesse Abraham as a Mechanic's Apprentice with the Public Works Department.
