SHAKOPEE TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrator DATE: 06/02/2015 SUBJECT: Updated 2015 Non-Union Pay Plan (F) Action Sought The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7580, a resolution amending the 2015 Pay Plan for Certain Non-Union Employees of the City of Shakopee, and move its adoption. Background Since the first of the year, the Council has authorized the addition of several positions to the City's Non-Union Pay Plan, as well as rate and pay grade changes. This action is intended to update the Pay Plan document so that it provides an accurate and comprehensive picture of the City's Non-Union positions and their corresponding pay rates. The changes include: 1. Updating of the salary levels associated with Pay Grade 13, to reflect the salary approved for the new City Administrator. (Approved by Council on May 19.) 2. Addition of the IT Director position to Grade 10. (Approved by Council March 17.) 3. Relocation of the IT Coordinator position from Grade 9 to Grade 8. (Elsewhere on this agenda.) 4. Addition of the newly created positions of Building Maintenance Manager and Victim & Community Services Coordinator to Grade 5. (Approved March 3 and January 6, respectively.) 5. Elimination of the position of Graduate Engineer from Grade 6 and establishment of the position of Engineering Technician in Grade 5 to reflect work load changes in the Engineering Division. (Approved March 3.) 6. Elimination of the Community Development Director position as part of the newly adopted organization chart. (Approved by Council on March .17.) Budget Impact All of the above items have already received individual approval by Council and all can be accommodated within the adopted operating budget for 2015. Relationship to Vision This is a housekeeping item. (F) Requested Action The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7580, a resolution amending the 2015 Pay Plan for Certain Non-Union Employees of the City of Shakopee, and move its adoption. Attachments: Resolution No. 7580 Revised 2015 Non-Union Pay Plan RESOLUTION No. 7580 A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 2015 PAY PLAN FOR CERTAIN NON-UNION EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7519, a resolution adopting the 2015 Pay Plan for Certain Non-Union Employees of the City of Shakopee, was adopted on December 2, 2014; and WHEREAS, multiple new and revised staff positions and pay rates have been approved by the City Council since this time; and WHEREAS, maintaining an up-to-date and comprehensive pay plan document for the City's non-union employees provides for accuracy and transparency in the City's payroll practices, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA,that the 2015 Pay Plan for Certain Non-Union Employees of the City of Shakopee is hereby amended as reflected on the attached document.
