SI tAKOPEE TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Bruce Loney, Public Works Director DATE: 05/06/2015 SUBJECT: Contract for Thrush Street Drainage Improvement (E) Action Sought The Council is asked to award a contract to Krueger Excavating Inc. for the Thrush Street Drainage Improvement and approve a 10% contingency amount for use by the City Engineer in authorizing change orders or quantity adjustments. Background Last summer the area along Wyndam Drive and Thrush Street and north of Green Meadows park, experienced significant flooding. This project will create an emergency overflow and additional ponding area to the east to protect the existing homes. On April 14, the City received 3 quotes to complete the project. The low quote was received from Krueger Excavating Inc. in the amount of$41,290. The Engineer's estimate for this project is $51, 000. The three quotes received are attached to this memo. Recommendation 1. Award a contract to Krueger Excavating Inc. for the Thrush Street Drainage Improvement 2. Approve a 10% contingency amount on this project for use by the City Engineer in authorizing change orders or quantity adjustments. Budget Impact This project is funded by Storm Sewer fund. Relationship to Vision This supports Goal E: Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of well-trained, caring, and professional employees.
