Action Sought
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No.7573, A Resolution of the City of
Shakopee, Minnesota, Accepting a Daktronics Scoreboard from the Shakopee
Youth Baseball Association.
Background and Discussion
The City has received a donation from the Shakopee Youth Baseball Association
(SYBA) of a Daktronics Scoreboard to be installed at Green Meadows Park.
SYBA will also pay for the installation of the scoreboard. This new scoreboard will
be similar to the one installed at Riverview Park.
The Park Maintenance Division had concerns involving the long-term maintenance
of the scoreboard and the impact that it could have on their budget. With their
concerns in mind, Staff recommends that the City accept the donation of the
scoreboard as proposed with the following consideration:
1.The City assumes the long-term maintenance of the scoreboard, with a condition
that the City can choose to discontinue the scoreboard if the maintenance becomes
an issue.
The City of Shakopee appreciates the generosity of the Shakopee Youth Baseball
Association, which helps support the City's parks and recreation services.
The City's donation policy requires a 2/3 vote to accept cash donations over $1,000
and donations of real property.
Relationship to Vision
D Maintain improve and create strong partnerships with other public and private
sector entities.
