SUBJECT: Consider Parking Control Signage for 10th Avenue by Russian Baptist
Church
DATE: April 22, 2008
INTRODUCTION:
This item is for Council consideration to make permanent the temporary "No Parking"
signage along 1 Oth Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
Staff placed temporary "No Parking" signs near the Russian Baptist Church driveway
entrance to allow for improved sight distance. Currently sight distance problems arise
due to the amount of cars parked on 10th Avenue. Installing permanent "No Parking"
signs similar to the ones installed in 2003 on the south side of 1 Oth Avenue would allow
for improved sight distance for vehicles exiting the Russian Baptist Church and eliminate
potential conflicts for vehicles traveling 10th Avenue.
Per City Code, Section 7.03, Parking and Traffic Control, this requires Council action for
any device, sign or signal to be erected or maintained for traffic or parking control, thus
the Council must approve the installation as such.
AL TERNA TIVES:
1. Direct staff to install permanent "no parking" signs on 1 Oth Avenue from 120ft
east of the driveway entrance curb line to 70 feet west of the driveway entrance
curb line.
2. Direct staff to remove temporary signage and leave existing conditions.
3. Table for additional information.
RECOMMENDATION:
Direct staff to install permanent "no parking" signs on 1 Oth Avenue from 120 ft east of
the driveway entrance curb line to 70 feet west of the driveway entrance curb line.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Direct staff to install permanent "no parking" signs on 1 Oth Avenue from 120 ft east of
the driveway entrance curb line to 70 feet west of the driveway entrance curb line.
