SUBJECT: Acceptance of Donation from Fairmount Santrol, Res. No. 7545 (A)
Action Sought
The City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No. 7545, a Resolution of the City of
Shakopee, Minnesota, accepting the donation of$14,367 from Fairmount Santrol to
be used by the Fire Department for equipment acquisition.
Background
Fairmount Santrol, doing business locally as Shakopee Sand LLC, has graciously
offered a $14,367 cash donation to the Fire Department to be used toward the
acquisition of new fire helmets. These new helmets will aid in the safety and
protection of our firefighters.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 7545.
Budget Impact
This item has no budget impact.
Relationship to Vision
A. Keep Shakopee a safe and healthy community where residents can pursue active
and quality lifestyles.
Requested Action
If the Council concurs, it should offer Resolution No. 7545, a Resolution of the
City of Shakopee, Minnesota, Accepting the Donation of$14,367 from Fairmount
Santrol, and move its adoption.

RESOLUTION No. 7545
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA,ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF
$14,367.00 FROM FAIRMOUNT SANTROL
WHEREAS, on February 3, 2015, the City Council adopted resolution No. 7545, which
established procedure relating to the receipt of donation by the city; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7545 specifies that donations or gifts shall be accepted by
resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds majority of the Council for
acceptance; and
WHEREAS, Fairmount Santrol, doing business locally as Shakopee Sand LLC, has
generously donated $14,367.00 to be used by the fire department for equipment acquisition;
and
WHEREAS, such donation will be used by the fire department to purchase new fire
helmets; and
WHEREAS, such safety equipment will enhance the protection of the fire department
personnel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,
MINNESOTA, that the donation is gratefully accepted; and
FURTHER, the city staff is directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging receipt
of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.
Adopted in regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota held
this 3rd day of February, 2015.
