Si i:1E�C)3'i:1 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Brad Tabke, Mayor DATE: 01/06/2015 SUBJECT: Compensation for Acting City Administrator Action Sought The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7540, a resolution authorizing compensation for the Acting City Administrator, and move its adoption. Background The Council is asked to approve a compensation agreement for the Acting City Administrator that accomplishes the following: 1. Sets the acting pay at the first step of the salary range for City Administrator. For 2015, this equals $107,997. 2. Grants an additional 40 hours of vacation at the completion of service in the acting role. 3. Documents the right to return to the Assistant City Administrator position upon the hiring of a new City Administrator. Recommendation I recommend approval of the proposed compensation agreement. Budget Impact This action can be accommodated within the adopted operating budget for 2015 through the use of unspent salary dollars that otherwise would have been used for the City Administrator's wages and benefits. Relationship to Vision This is a housekeeping item. (F) Requested Action The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7540, a resolution authorizing compensation for the Acting City Administrator, and move its adoption. Attachments: Res. No. 7540 RESOLUTION NO. 7540 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COMPENSATION FOR THE ACTING CITY ADMINISTRATOR WHEREAS,the position of City Administrator for the City of Shakopee is currently vacant, and WHEREAS, a thorough search and hiring process is expected to result in the position remaining vacant for approximately five months, and WHEREAS,Assistant City Administrator Kristine Wilson has been appointed Acting City Administrator until such time as the search and hiring process is complete, and WHEREAS,the City Council finds it reasonable that Ms. Wilson's established salary shall be adjusted during this time period in return for accepting added workload and responsibility; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,MINNESOTA that effective December 17, 2014 and continuing for the duration of her service as Acting City Administrator, Ms. Wilson shall be paid a salary equal to Step G of Grade 13 of the City's established Non-Union Pay Plan; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon completion of her service as Acting City Administrator, Ms. Wilson shall receive a one-time award of 40 hours of vacation time above and beyond that regularly accrued; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Ms. Wilson shall retain the position of Assistant City Administrator,with its established employment terms and conditions,throughout and following her service as Acting City Administrator.
