SHAKOI'EE TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator DATE: 11/18/2014 SUBJECT: Appointment of Bicycle Advisory Committee Introduction Action Sought The Council should appoint seven members of the Bicycle Advisory Committee. Background In October, the City Council approved the creation of a Bicycle Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee will be to advise the Park and Recreation Advisory Board on issues relating to bicycling in Shakopee—infrastructure needs, education, enforcement, and the general promotion of bicycling as a recreational and transportation alternative. The Committee was to be five or seven members, depending upon the response. Upon receipt of the applications, the candidates were interviewed by Councilors Mocol and Luce, and City Administrator McNeill. The committee was impressed with the quality of the candidates. The recommendation of the interview panel is is as follows: •Three-year term (to expire February 28, 2018)—Jerry Hennen, Ian Young and Shauna Ruthenbeck. •Two-year term (to expire February 28, 2017)—Jason Mousel, Shelli McCue •One-year term (to expire February 28, 2016)—Warren Moser, Michele Herntier Recommendation The recommendation of the panel is to appoint the candidates listed above, via the attached resolution. The terms will be effective upon the date of the adoption of the resolution. Action Required If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt the following the resolution: Res. No. 7515 RESOLUTION NO. 7515 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING INDIVIDUALS TO THE BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the following appointments are hereby made: 1. Jerry Hennen, Ian Young, and Shauna Ruthenbeck for three-year terms expiring on February 28, 2018. 2. Jason Mousel and Shelli McCue for two-year terms expiring on February 28, 2017. 3. Warren Moser and Michele Herntier for one-year terms expiring on February 28, 2016.
