SUBJECT: Resignation of Sergeant Clay Johnson

Introduction
The City Council is asked to accept the resignation of Clay Johnson from his position as a
Sergeant with the Shakopee Police Department, effective March 16, 2008.
Background
Sgt. Johnson joined the Shakopee Police Department in December of 1998 and was promoted to
Sergeant in April of 2005. Earlier this week he submitted his letter of resignation.
The Police Department will be examining its staffing needs in light of the City's budget forecasts
and returning to the Council at a future meeting with an analysis of the need to fill this vacancy.
Relationship to Vision:
Goal F -General Housekeeping.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that Council accept Sgt. Johnson's resignation with regret.
Requested Action
The Council is asked to offer a motion to accept, with regret, the resignation of Clay Johnson
from his position as a Sergeant with the Shakopee Police Department, effective March 16, 2008.
