No. 894 Action Sought The City Council is asked to adopt Ordinance No. 894, An Ordinance of the City of Shakopee Amending Shakopee City Code Section 10.21 Relating to Regulations Pertaining to Dogs and Cats. Background/Discussion The City Council adopted rules for the City's new dog park on September 16, 2014. Section 10.21 of the City Code relates to dog, cat and domestic animal regulations and licensing. The current City Code does not address dog parks or the regulation of the rules of a dog park. The City Council is presented with an ordinance revision to section 10.21 of the City Code that will recognize the ability to run dogs off leash within the dog park, address the compliance of the dog park regulations and amend the dog licensing requirement to be consistent with the City Council's action setting a new annual dog license fee that includes the use of the dog park. Requested Action The City Council, if concur, adopt Ordinance No. 894, An Ordinance of the City of Shakopee Amending Shakopee City Code Section 10.21 Relating to Regulations Pertaining to Dogs and Cats. Attachments: Ordinance 894 ORDINANCE NO. 894, Fourth Series AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE AMENDING SHAKOPEE CITY CODE SECTION 10.21 RELATING TO REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO DOGS AND CATS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS: Section 1. Section 10.21, Subd. 2 of the Shakopee City Code is amended to read as follows: Subd.2. Running at Large Prohibited. It is unlawful for any owner to permit a dog or cat to run at large,except as otherwise allowed at the City's dog park. Section 2. Section 10.21, Subd. 5 of the Shakopee City Code is amended to read as follows: Subd. 5. License Fee and Term. All fees for the licensing and impounding of dogs and cats shall be fixed and determined by the Council, adopted by resolution, and uniformly enforced. Such fees may from time to time be amended by the Council by resolution. A copy of the resolution setting forth currently effective fees shall be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk and open to inspection during regular business hours. _ . - • -- - . ., _ , , January 1, 2005. Compliance with Dog Park Regulations. It is unlawful for any person to violate any of the City's rules regulating the City's Dog Park. Section 4.Effective Date.
