To: Mayor and City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
From: Jamie Polley, Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Director
Meeting Date: February 19, 2008
Subject: Parks and Recreation Fee Study Work Session
INTRODUCTION
The City Council is asked to set a joint work session with the PRAB to review the draft report of
the Park and Recreation Fee Study or defer the work session to the DRAB.
BACKGROUND
Staff has been working with Springsted to gather information for the Parks and Recreation fee
study. Both full and part-time staff recorded the time they spend on each fee based and non fee
based activity within the Parks and Recreation Department. Springsted has taken the time
spent and calculated the current cost to provide each parks and recreation activity.
Springsted is currently completing the draft report and as part of their contract will present the
findings in the draft report to the City during a work session. The Council may choose to be
present to review the draft with the PRAB; if so, they should schedule the joint meeting on
March 10t"
If they do not wish to be present, and instead want to hear only the final presentation by
Springsted, deferring until the April 1St regular City Council meeting will be sufficient.
