Cox, City Clerk SUBJECT: First March Meeting -Date Change DATE: February 15, 2008 INTRODUCTION The Council is asked to consider a date in which to have the first regular City Council meeting in March. BACKGROUND The first regular meeting in March would normally be Tuesday, March 4th. State law prohibits meetings after 6:00 p.m. on the statutory date for caucuses, which is March 4th. As you know, the caucuses were actually held on February 4th. The League of Minnesota Cities and the Secretary of State are suggesting that meetings not beheld on Tuesday, March 4th to avoid any question of conflict with State law. VISIONING RELATIONSHIP This is a housekeeping item. RECOMMENDATION We recommend designating the first meeting in March to be Wednesday, March 5th. ACTION REQUIRED If Council concurs, it should, by motion, offer Resolution No. 6731, changing the March 4, 2008 Council meeting date to Wednesday, March 5, 2008, and move its adoption. RESOLUTION NO. 6731 A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE MARCH 4, 2008 COUNCIL MEETING DATE WHEREAS, the Shakopee City Code has set the first Tuesday of each month as the regular meeting date for the City Council; and WHEREAS, the Shakopee City Code allows the City Council to change the meeting date by adopting a resolution at least one week prior to the regularly scheduled meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the March 4, 2008 regularly scheduled City Council meeting be changed to March 5, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. Adopted in Adj..
