Memorandum v ` '
TO: Mayor and City Council ~ ~
Mark McNeill, City Administrator ~ ,
FROM: Judith S. Cox, City Clerk
SUBJECT: First March Meeting -Date Change
DATE: February 15, 2008
INTRODUCTION
The Council is asked to consider a date in which to have the first regular City Council
meeting in March.
BACKGROUND
The first regular meeting in March would normally be Tuesday, March 4th. State law
prohibits meetings after 6:00 p.m. on the statutory date for caucuses, which is March 4th. As
you know, the caucuses were actually held on February 4th. The League of Minnesota Cities
and the Secretary of State are suggesting that meetings not beheld on Tuesday, March 4th to
avoid any question of conflict with State law.
VISIONING RELATIONSHIP
This is a housekeeping item.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend designating the first meeting in March to be Wednesday, March 5th.
ACTION REQUIRED
If Council concurs, it should, by motion, offer Resolution No. 6731, changing the March 4,
2008 Council meeting date to Wednesday, March 5, 2008, and move its adoption.
