Retirement of Police Records Specialist Donna Hyatt ~r CITY OF SHAKOPEE ~ Memorandum ~ TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrato`~~ SUBJECT: Retirement of Police Records Specialist Donna Hyatt DATE: February 15, 2008 Introduction The City Council is asked to accept the resignation of Police Records Specialist Donna Hyatt, effective February 29, 2008. Background Donna Hyatt has been part of the records staff at the Police Department for the past 18 years. On February 8, she submitted her resignation, noting her intent to retire. Staff will be evaluating the needs and workload of the police records division and consulting with the Police Civil Service Commission regarding whether to fill the vacancy. In light of the City's budget forecast, one option maybe to hire a Records Technician, which is a pay grade lower than the Records Specialist position being vacated. Recommendation Staff recommends that the notice of retirement be accepted and that the attached resolution of appreciation be adopted. Requested Action The Council is asked to offer a motion to accept, with regret, the resignation of Donna Hyatt from her position as a Police Records Specialist, and to offer Resolution No. 6733, A Resolution of Appreciation to Donna Hyatt, and move its adoption. RESOLUTION NO. 6733 A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO DONNA M. HYATT WHEREAS, Donna M. Hyatt began her employment with the City of Shakopee on December 4, 1989, as a Clerk Typist II with the Shakopee Police Department; and was subsequently promoted to the positions of Police Records Technician and Police Records Specialist; and WHEREAS, Donna came to the City of Shakopee with notable amounts of law enforcement records experience, having worked for the Eden Prairie Police Department for thirteen years; and WHEREAS, in her more than eighteen years of employment with the City of Shakopee, Donna provided important support to the Shakopee Police Department; and WHEREAS, Donna handled literally thousands of police case files and correspondence in her career, dealing from the mundane to homicide cases; and WHEREAS, Donna's excellent organizational skills, and positive personality made her a very valuable employee and a pleasure to work with; and WHEREAS, Donna will retire from her position effective February 29, 2008. NOWTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that it does hereby express its deep appreciation to Donna M. Hyatt for her eighteen years of dedicated service to the City of Shakopee. BE IT .FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council extends its best wishes for every happiness and success to Donna in her future endeavors.
