CITY OF SHAKOPEE MEMORANDUM COf~SENT To: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator ' ' From: Mark Themig, Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Director Meeting Date: July 18, 2006 Subject: Surveying and Construction Staking for Huber and Tahpah Park INTRODUCTION This agenda item seeks approval of a contract extension with Bonestroo Rosene and Anderlik for surveying and construction staking for both the Huber and Tahpah park construction projects. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION Bonestroo has provided the attached proposals for construction staking at Huber and Tahpah park projects. The proposal for Tahpah is $10,000-$11,000 and includes all erosion control devices, parking lots, utility, lighting, field improvements, etc. If you authorize the contract extension, we would suggest it be an hourly contract with a to-not- exceed amount of $11 ,000. Huber Park staking is proposed at an hourly rate to not exceed $45,000. This proposal includes all erosion control, utilities, the performance area, the pavilion building, entry monuments, parking lots, roadways, trails and sidewalks, and the boat launch. Due to the variety and number of amenities in this project, this cost is substantially higher compared to Tahpah. All costs are part surveying and construction staking are part of the project budgets reviewed when bids were awarded, and both contracts provide one set of stakes. Should stakes be removed or damaged, restaking is at the contractor's cost. REQUESTED ACTION City Council is asked to move to approve contract extensions with Bonestroo Rosene and Anderlik for surveying and construction services for the Tahpah Park project at a cost not to exceed $11,000 and the Huber Park project at a cost not to exceed $45,000.
