INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No. 6452, a resolution of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota, accepting a donation in the amount of $7,500.00 from the Shakopee Lions
Club.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Shakopee Fire Department hosted a motorcycle run in June to raise money for a
Confined Space Training Room at Station 51 from Landscape Structures out of Delano,
Minnesota. The room will consist of playground equipment outfitted and modified for
firefighters to perform confined space activities throughoutthe structure. The structure
will allow for removable doors to be placed on the ends ofthe tunnels for firefighters to
encounter different size obstructions while working in a zero visibility structure. The
room will help Shakopee Firefighters meet the yearly requirements for confined space
training and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus training.
The Shakopee Fire Department approached the Shakopee Lions Club for help in the
$21,000.00 project and the Lions Club has decided to generously donate $7,500.00
toward the project.
The City's donation policy requires a 2/3 vote to accept cash donations over $1,000 and
donations of real property.
VISIONING RELATIONSIDP
The acceptance ofthe donation will help the Shakopee Fire Department to maintain a
\ professional level of training and help maintain our state requirements without having to
pay a college to come and train our firefighters.
