Approve Extension Agreement with Bonostroo, Project No. 2006-3 5.8.3# CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council CONSENT Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Jeff Weyandt, Assistant City Engineer SUBJECT: Consider Approving an Extension Agreement to Perform Construction Staking for Utility Replacement on Highway 101, Project No. 2006-3 DATE: June 20, 2006 INTRODUCTION: This agenda item is for Council to consider authorizing the appropriate City officials to execute an extension agreement with Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates, Inc. to perform construction staking services for utility replacement on Highway 101. BACKGROUND: Scott County has awarded a bid to S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. to reconstruct CSAH 101, from CSAH 17 east 1370 feet to the bridge. As part of this project, staff is recommending that the City replace the sanitary sewer in conjunction with the County's reconstruction project. The City will recognize a significant cost savings due to restoration costs. This project is necessary to re-route flow that currently flows through a sewer main that is located under a number of mobile homes. This pipe is in poor condition and the City would need to relocate mobile homes in order to repair this line if the flow is not re-routed. Shakopee Public Utilities is planning on replacing watermain in the area and has agreed to reimburse the City for their portion of the project. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Authorize the appropriate City officials to execute an extension agreement with Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates, Inc. to perform construction staking services on this project. 2. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative No.1, in order for this project to commence. I ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize the appropriate City officials to execute an extension agreement with Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates, Inc. to perform construction staking services on this proj ect. ~~ Jeff Weyandt Assistant City Engineer JW/pmp ENGRl2006PROJECT/2006RlVERDISTRICTfWORDISTAKINGSERVICES ~ Bonestroo 2335 West Highway 36 · 81.
