No. 6430
INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No. 6430, A Resolution of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota Accepting an Environment Grant from Xcel Energy for the Quarry lake Park
Project.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
Earlier this year, the Prior lake Water Ski Association submitted a grant on behalf of the
City to Xcel Energy for the Quarry lake Park project. We were notified that we have been
selected by Xcel Energy to receive $30,000 for the Quarry lake Park project. These funds
will be used to continue development of the project.
Pat Cline, Manager of Community and Government Relations, will be present at the June
6 meeting to present the grant. 1

REQUESTED ACTION
If City Council concurs, it should, by motion adopt Resolution No. 6430, A Resolution of
the City of Shakopee, Minnesota Accepting an Environment Grant from Xcel Energy for
the Quarry lake Park Project.
RESOLUTION NO. 6430
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
ACCEPTING AN ENVIRONMENT GRANT FROM XCEL ENERGY FOR THE
QUARRY LAKE PARK PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Prior Lake Water Ski Association submitted a grant application
on behalf of the City to assist with developing the Quarry Lake Park project; and,
WHEREAS. the City has been notified that Xcel Energy has selected the City of
Shakopee for a $30,000 grant; and.
WHEREAS, the funds are to be used for the purpose of developing a reclaimed
quarry into a multi-use recreational trail facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the City of Shakopee (The City) accepts the grant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council extends its appreciation to
Xcel Energy for their assistance in funding the Quarry Lake Park project.
Adopted in adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota, held this 6th Day of June, 2006.

The Quarry Lake Project is a public - private partnership between Aggregate Industri~s, the
City of Shakop~e, Minnesota, the Shakopee~-Prior Lake Waterski Assn, and other local
reexea.tion and conservation orga.nh;ations. Our pw:pose is to create a multiple-use. recreation'
and conservation park on what is now industrial land in Shakopee. This land is juxtapo~ed to
the Xcel Energy Blue Lake Peaking Power Genetntion Plant in Shakopee.
