City of Shakopee Personnel Request or Position Change 2015 Budget Department: Administration Prepared by: Mark McNeill,City Administrator Request for: Management Assistant Addition: Yes Pay Grade Estimate: Grade 6 Date of Change: January 1,2015 Wage&Benefit Cost: Full-Year=$72,300 /Net Difference from 2014 Budget,with a January 1 start date=$39,200 Description Details: The Council is asked to consider the addition of a Management Assistant position in the Administration Department. In prior years,the City had an Assistant to the Administrator position,which over time took on more tasks and responsibilities. It was reclassified to the Assistant City Administrator position. Currently,that position serves as a de facto department head, overseeing TT,Facilities,and the City's Human Resources functions. There is little time to for that position respond to special projects. The original intent of the Assistant to the Administrator position was to do assigned projects which would come up periodically,write grants,assist the Administrator and Department Heads with a variety of municipal tasks,and respond to the specific needs of the elected officials. Currently,the Administrative Intern position is able to fulfill some of those tasks,but is limited by the part-time nature of the job. This proposal would restructure that position,and add approximately 11 hours per week, and FT benefits. The net annual difference in pay and benefits would be$39,200:
