SUBJECT: Consideration of Valleyfair On-sale Intoxicating Liquor License, Res. No. 7473 (D)
Action Sought
During the 2013 Legislative Session, the Legislature approved special legislation that allowed the
City of Shakopee to issue an on-sale intoxicating liquor license to the Cedar Fair Entertainment
Co., dba ValleyFair.
This legislation now requires that the City Council, by resolution, approve the special session law.
After approval of this resolution, the City will forward the resolution to the Secretary of State's
office, as defined by the State Attorney General. This action is required before January, 2015.
Staff requests approval of this resolution, No. 7473, to ensure compliance with the regulations
related to special legislative action, as defined by Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021

RESOLUTION NO. 7473
APPROVING 2013 MINNESOTA SESSION LAW,CHAPTER 42,SECTION 12
RELATING TO VALLEYFAIR ON-SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE
BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Scott County,Minnesota
(the "City")as follows:
1. It is determined that:
(a) 2013 Minnesota Session Laws, Chapter 42, Section 12 (the "Special Law")
authorizes the City of Shakopee to issue an on-sale intoxicating liquor license to Cedar Fair
Entertainment Co.,dba Valley Fair;
(b)the Special Law is effective the day upon approval by a majority vote of the City
Council and filing a certificate with the Secretary of State,all in accordance with Minnesota
Statutes, Section 645.021; and
(c) the City Council has determined that is in the best interests of the City and its
residents to approve the Special Law.
2. The Special Law is approved in all respects.
3. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to file with the Secretary of State a certified
copy of this resolution and the appropriate certificate in the form prescribed by the state attorney
general.
4. City staff are authorized and directed to take all actions necessary to implement the
Special Law.
